Course of Empire (2008-2011)


This series is titled after Thomas Cole’s group of allegorical paintings from 1836. In my work, the She-wolf that breast-fed Romulus and Remus makes an appearance, as well as a figure with equestrian clothing, among other symbols, fallen rocks and skulls.

Ozymandias

I met a Traveler from an antique land,
Who said, "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read,
